Family Law Legal Secretary
Provide  partner and associate secretarial/administrative support; must have previous experience specializing in family law and will be given family law test; general responsibilities include but are not limited to: transcribe/revise tapes and handwritten materials containing correspondence and various legal documents, file documents with the Court; input attorneys' timesheets into timekeeping system, coordinate conferences/appointments, maintain attorneys’ calendars and tickler system, prepare expense reports, notebooks and exhibits, coordinate travel arrangements

Must be computer literate and have a stable work history. 
 
Real Estate/Tax Legal Secretary
Candidate will be responsible for providing legal secretarial services to senior partner (head of tax department), 1 tax associates, and 1 real estate attorney that is of counsel. Must have experience in Real Estate Law and knowledge of all the various Real Estate documents from start to finish, Tax experience is a plus and/or good Transactional Legal experience; good organizational skills with deadline and detail orientation; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively within a team environment. Required skills include: the firm recently upgraded to Microsoft Word '10, but candidate will be tested on Window’s ’03 (test will be without Macros must have ability to deal with styles manually) must know Microsoft Word, Outlook, Comparite (or other redlining program). Minimum of 5 years prior law firm experience and a stable work history required. 
 

 

General Business, Financial Services, and IT

Accounting Manager
Reports to: Partners

Responsible for all areas relating to accounting function and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities including maintenance of cash balances, client trust fund accounts, petty cash account and will have limited check writing and signing authority.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- prepare budget, cash, and forecasting reports and monthly year to date against those forecasts
- respond to inquiries from the Partners regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like
- oversee payables, works with other departments with respect to financial issues
- work with the retained CPA firm to resolve financial issues and ensure the preparation of accurate monthly financial statements and corporate tax returns. Provide receipts to outside CPA firm on a weekly basis
- ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
- assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
- prepares analysis and participates in yearend bonus payroll calculation for all employees
- prepares business tax returns, calculates and pays city business taxes
- oversees calculation of and payments into firm pension plan. Works with outside firm in calculation pension payments and adherence to pension law guidelines
- pay and track partner's medical expenses and insurance payments
- supervises client billing system includes coding and tracking receipts. Follows up on collections and advised partners on non-payments
- prepare and call in bi-monthly payroll to payroll company, review payroll package for distribution, verify payroll tax deposits and provide journal entries to outside firm
- review all quarterly and annual payroll returns

Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance and Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting

Required Technical Skills and Prior Experience:
- 5 to 7 years prior supervisory experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas. Experience working in a law firm
- Must be PC proficient. Experience with large automated accounting systems a plus. Must have experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. Datafaction experience preferred.

Systems Engineer

Under the direction of the Network Operations Manager, the Systems Engineer manages and is responsible for the development and delivery of IT standards, best practices, architecture and systems to ensure a secure, stable environment for the firm.

Duties and/or Responsibilities:
- Administer Microsoft Active Directory and role based Windows servers including Exchange and SQL.
- Maintain and oversee the firm’s LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Perform backup/restore and disaster recovery of all network resources.
- Manage remote access to the network.
- Provide senior level support to Help Desk and end users.
- Secure network resources by developing network access, monitoring, control and documentation.
- Responsible for documenting security policies and procedures.
- Monitors the internal control systems to ensure that appropriate access levels are maintained.
- Participates in preparing the disaster recovery plan.
- Responsible for developing information security standards and best practices for the organization.
- Resolve a variety of network/systems issues including connectivity, routing, bandwidth, latency, performance degradation.
 

The Network Administrator will be expected to have:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Windows Servers and Desktop products.
- Significant experience troubleshooting Network connectivity and routing issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Storage Area Networks; NetApp a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Virtualization Technologies, VMWare & XenServer a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of remote office connectivity technologies including MPLS, SSL/VPN and others.
- Demonstrated knowledge of network security technology including firewall configuration, intrusion detection, wireless security, antivirus and antimalware.
- Demonstrated exceptional communication skills both within and outside of the IT Department.
- Commitment to standards and documentation.
- Provide 24x7 response and assistance for all urgent and related responsibilities.
 
Education and Experience
- Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Technology and/or equivalent industry certifications. At least 5 years of experience managing a Microsoft/VMWare network environment. Previous law firm experience highly desired, but not required

MUST HAVE: Experience within the legal industry.Position Summary:  excellent opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist. The individual will be responsible for planning, executing and supporting policies and procedures relating to all phases of the human resources activities in the Los Angeles office, including: recruitment of all support staff, including coordination of temporary assistance and staffing vendors, as well as overseeing orientation processes for all employees and attorneys; draft employment contracts and vendor agreements; assist with recruiting attorney candidates. Field and respond to inquiries from attorneys, management and support staff regarding Firm policy, procedures and benefits. Proactively manage employee relations issues and provide coaching and counseling to establish effective resolutions; conduct internal investigations and prepare appropriate written documentation, complete and ensure necessary follow-up for all HR data transactions to ensure accuracy. Partner with Firmwide HR management to communicate and implement HR policies and programs and effectively manage all leaves of absence, payroll and benefits related issues and open enrollment initiatives. Work in partnership with the Office Administrator on the performance management process, including salary and bonus administration, and identifying development needs and opportunities. Assist in the supervision of the support staff, including reception, secretaries and office services; coordinate work flow and employee event activities, manage employee terminations and exit interviews.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related area and a minimum of 3-5 years exempt level human resources experience. PHR/SPHR or CLM certification a plus. Proven expertise and experience in staffing, employee relations and talent management systems, along with a keen understanding of FMLA, CFRA, Workers’ Compensation and applicable state and federal employment and labor laws. Excellent interpersonal and communications/counseling skills and a demonstrated ability to establish working relationships and credibility with all levels of the local and Firmwide organization, as well as with external clients and vendors. Must possess strong business acumen and be results driven and focused on the continued improvement of office efficiencies. Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
